These two rodents look so similar that voles are often (incorrectly) referred to as field mice! They are about the same size and both have adorable round ears. However, <strong>they have different-coloured fur<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In general, <strong>mice <\/strong>are <strong>grey<\/strong>, and <strong>voles<\/strong> are <strong>brown <\/strong>with a <strong>white stomach<\/strong>. It has a distinct appearance and behaviour.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Physical characteristics<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Mice are larger than voles. <\/strong>They typically have grey fur. Mice can measure up to <strong>20 cm long<\/strong>, head to tail, and weigh up to <strong>50 grams<\/strong>. Unlike voles, mice have <strong>large ears<\/strong> and larger eyes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Behaviour<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Mice are rodents that can <strong>reproduce faster than voles. <\/strong>Mice usually live between two to three years. Female mice can <strong>give birth to<\/strong> <strong>4 to 16 offspring at a time <\/strong>and have between 7 to 8 litters a year. No wonder we often find them in our homes! They are looking for shelter and food. Mice are also <strong>very active at night<\/strong>, unlike voles. They particularly love your <a href=\"https:\/\/eexterminateur.ca\/en\/blog\/get-rid-of-mice-in-garage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>attic and garage<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Mice have<strong> wide-ranging diets <\/strong>and eat <strong>3 grams of food a day<\/strong>. As a rodent, they eat grains, fruits and vegetables. They are <strong>smaller than mice<\/strong>, reaching a length of <strong>11 cm <\/strong>and weighing up to <strong>30 grams<\/strong>.Their <strong>tail<\/strong>,<strong> eyes<\/strong> and <strong>ears<\/strong> are smaller than those of a mouse. It can even be difficult <strong>to make out their ears through their fur<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Behaviour<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Voles are <strong>livelier than mice<\/strong>. They are nimble creatures and <strong>can jump very high <\/strong>and <a href=\"https:\/\/eexterminateur.ca\/en\/blog\/5-ways-mice-rats-get-into-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">squeeze into tight spaces<\/a>. Female voles have between 2 and 4 litters a year, giving birth <strong>to 3 to 6 young <\/strong>at a time. Voles can live up to 1 year.
